Oh the memories.

Anyhow, a friend of mine is laying the game out bare for all to enjoy...

>>>

The movement is now underway. Sadly a lot of the stuff I bought without trying turned out to be one size too small, so those Singha and Chang tops in M are write-offs and strictly for wear around the house. However, I did pick up this cool Nike top commemorating the closing of Singapore's national stadium. Yes I know Nike has a bad track record for using workshop workers but in all honesty, I think it's a little unfair blaming just them: there are plenty of other equally shady businesses violating laws left, right and centre. Anyhow, as well as being a nice fitting and feeling shirt, it makes for a nice Singaporean souvenir that doesn't scream "Look at me! I'm a Singaporean souvenir!" or have a tacky image of the Merlion on it - though the mythical creature native to Singapore is one cool cat.

Message in a Bottle

Message in a Bottle

Stumbled across thie really eye-opening article on bottled water. Out of the 13 different prototype tops ordered, I've found the two styles I'll be using for guys and girls tops - pending how they hold up after a wash. They're nice and soft and the M fits really nicely on me and I normally take an AA L that needs to shrink a little (normally just one wash) before it fits well. According to Marie, the girls shirts fit nicely too and her XS is comparable to the AA XS though perhaps not as soft.

But none the less, the signs are looking good that the first shirts will be out sooner rather than later! Though that leaves me with a few larger and slimmer sized tshirts... so if anyone wants a "cleanskin" shirt, drop us a line and we can work something out, like perhaps a tshirt trade??

Prototypes imminent

Got a box of sample garments the other day that were dropped off to the screen printer I'll be using for the tops. As they say, the litmus test will lay in how well the shirts hold up after a wash (we're going to try them on for size first and then chuck 'em all in the wash down at the laundromat, then try 'em all on again) and their "feel". Just (un)lucky 13 shirts will be printed in the prototype run ranging in sizes from women's S through to men's L which admittedly, is looking a little large at this stage of the game! WTF FTW!

Tools of the Trade

Just got this threadless design on a hoodie in the post this morning - I just love the style, execution and "minimalism" of this design. I don't know whether it's an Australian thing or not, but the sizing of the American Apparel hoodies is just "out" for me: medium feels too constrictive but large is just a little too "swimmy". Here's hoping this shrinks a little in the wash! But none the less, killer design and I've got it on in the office at the moment. If the other shirt I got with the order is anything like the other American Apparel tee I've already got, there's a strong possibility a lot of the NVA designs will be printed on these garments.

Sex (pistols) sells

Uneetee has been on a roll lately. Sadly - or fortunately from a financial point of view - the cost of postage to Australia means it isn't economically viable for me to buy single shirts at a time. None the less, it's a clever and eye-catching design and I suspect this shirt will sell very well in the 24 hours it's available for.

For all my Street Fighter 2 peeps

I might not have been the best at Street Fighter 2, but the search for the World Warrior formed an integral part of my childhood. These are some shots that I took from my time in Shibuya in June 2004. It was a crazy two-day visit encompassing lots of walking around, photography, record shopping and eating Japanese food and alcohol. I can't wait for my next visit to the land of the rising sun.

Click here for postcards from Shibuya

Non Vintage Apparel.
