Real shirts from real places

Stumbled across desteenation today and i should congratulate them all on a fantastic idea. Yay for those doing their bit for sending a big "f##k you!" to the multinationals trying to suck out a local area's culture, one family owned business at a time. There's a great range of fashion from local businesses together with a story on every shirt profiled - get cracking!

"Just marvellous"

If you're an Aussie male and don't instantly know who is being immortalised in this tshirt, this top isn't for you. And you should be ashamed of yourself.

I give to you (via recently discovered Australian tshirt site Nipple Cripple who are having a sale on at the moment) the legendary Mr Benaud - owner of one of the most recognisable voices in Australian sports commentary history - in all his glory. Howzat?!?

The shirts are here!

Finally, the shirts are here! Out of the 13 different prototype tops ordered, I've found the two styles I'll be using for guys and girls tops - pending how they hold up after a wash. They're nice and soft and the M fits really nicely on me and I normally take an AA L that needs to shrink a little (normally just one wash) before it fits well. According to Marie, the girls shirts fit nicely too and her XS is comparable to the AA XS though perhaps not as soft.

But none the less, the signs are looking good that the first shirts will be out sooner rather than later! Though that leaves me with a few larger and slimmer sized tshirts... so if anyone wants a "cleanskin" shirt, drop us a line and we can work something out, like perhaps a tshirt trade??

Prototypes imminent

Got a box of sample garments the other day that were dropped off to the screen printer I'll be using for the tops. As they say, the litmus test will lay in how well the shirts hold up after a wash (we're going to try them on for size first and then chuck 'em all in the wash down at the laundromat, then try 'em all on again) and their "feel". Just (un)lucky 13 shirts will be printed in the prototype run ranging in sizes from women's S through to men's L which admittedly, is looking a little large at this stage of the game! Stay tuned.

Fictive - an Australian t-shirt company making a difference

I stumbled across this site today. Fictive is an Australian venture where part proceeds from t-shirt sales are donated to charity, so good on 'em. For all my fellow Antipodeans, please be sure to check Fictive out.

No turning back now

Other amusing stuff taking place around June in Perth, Western Australia

Or not without losing a little bit of moolah. And time.

Yesterday during a late lunch break, I made the trek to the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection to register the business name.

Money was exchanged and as proof of my status as a small (even micro?) business owner I am now in possession of a neatly laminated certificate with the name "Non Vintage Apparel" promised exclusively to me for at least the next three years.

As we breathe, a parcel of prototype shirts are en route to Perth from New Zealand, waiting to be printed at a Fremantle screen printer who I have used in the past with much satisfaction.

As the French say, watch this le space.

The Last Supper

One for all the Pac-fans. Nerdyshirts has some great gear including this ripper. I suspect my resolve will crumble like sandstones any day now and I'll be spending more of my money there. I wonder - is being uncool starting to be "cool" again?
